24 April 2017 - Minister Kuščević at the Spring Meetings 2017 of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington

Minister Lovro Kuščević participated in the work of this year's Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF, which was held in Washington D.C. from 21 to 23 April. The Croatian delegation was headed by Minister of Finance Zdravko Marić, comprising also other representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Croatian National Bank.

During his participation in the Spring Meetings Minister Kuščević had a series of operational meetings with World Bank representatives who are responsible for Doing Business. The main topics of these meetings were the process of obtaining building permits in Croatia, facilitating and accelerating procedures, improvement of legislative solutions, as well as progress in the digitisation of the system, by which we wish to expedite the process of obtaining the required building acts and facilitate investments. Minister Kuščević presented the reforms undertaken to date, the amendments to the Building Act, the upgrading of the E-permits system, as well as the ONE STOP SHOP on-line entry into the land registers of the cadastre and land registry, whereby the amounts of administrative fees have been reduced along with introducing their on-line payment.

Furthermore, Ministers Kuščević and Marić met also with Mr Paul Romer, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank, to whom they presented, among others, the said reforms and the progress achieved in the system.

Relationships have been established and further cooperation agreed, which, as we hope, will lead to a better ranking of Croatia on the Doing Business list.
